Colin Jackson One of the greatest hurdlers in history but incredibly he never won an Olympic gold medal. The closest he came to Olympic glory was in 1988 when he won Olympic silver behind Roger Kingdom in Seoul. He finished outside the medals in his three other Olympic finals. He had a superb record in other championships. The highlight of his career being World titles in Stuttgart in 1993 and Seville in 1999. Jackson dominated the European Championship with four consecutive gold medals. He also won the Commonwealth Games twice and after hitting the first hurdle in Manchester he recovered to take silver. On retirement, Colin was a natural choice to become one of the key members of the BBC’s sports production team and he continues to cover all of their Athletics output as a BBC pundit and presenter. Covering the Athens Olympics was obviously a highlight early in his broadcasting career and since then he has been an integral part of the BBC output for the 2006 Torino Winter Olympics and European championships as well as most recently, the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Colin co hosted the BBC1 live morning show Sunday Life for it’s duration during 2008. He is a regular reporter for The One Show BBC1 and he has recently filmed The Truth About You BBC1 a documentary looking at the science behind his body, brain and success. Last year Colin traced his roots in a moving episode of BBC1's highly acclaimed, Who Do You Think You Are. He dazzled us all with his dancing skills on Strictly Come Dancing and was thrilled to make it, by public vote, into the final. In line with his on screen presenting and commentary Colin is a confident and charismatic conference/awards host and a high level motivational speaker. With an unprecedented competitive career behind him coupled with his fresh-faced charm and friendly warmth he has been extremely well received by numerous audiences including IT Conventions and Business Forums. |

Daley Thompson Daley Thompson, became only the second person in Olympic history to claim the decathlon gold twice. Born on July 30th 1958 in Notting Hill, London, of Scottish and Nigerian parentage, Thompson first competed in the decathlon in the 1976 Montreal Games as an 18-year-old. He finished 18th! Four years later at the Moscow Olympics, he won the gold medal, finishing 150 points ahead of his nearest rival. Until Thompson arrived on the scene, the decathlon was one of the least popular spectator events in athletics. Thompson changed all that with his colour and flamboyance. He made each element of the decathlon a drama in itself. He was a superb athlete, one who had dedicated his life to nothing but getting better and better in the event. The number of world-class decathletes shot up during the 'Daley decade'. A score of 8000 points was bettered over 500 times in the 1980's! In the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics, Thompson was at his peak. He won the gold with a total of 8797 points, equalling American Bob Mathias' achievement of two decathlon golds. A year later, the IAAF adjusted the scores and Thompson was given the world record with 8847 points. He was awarded the MBE in 1982 and advanced to CBE in 2000, and was voted BBC Sports Personality of the Year in 1982. |

David Hempleman-Adams David Hempleman-Adams was born in October 1956 in Swindon and later moved with his mother to Bath. At the age of 13, the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme gave him a first taste of the lifestyle that he would soon adopt. By the age of 16 he had won the gold award and had already conquered a succession of Welsh mountains. On leaving school he took business studies at college in Manchester but spent his spare time learning whatever he could about mountaineering - either through actually climbing or studying the sport. In 1998, he became the first man in history to reach the Geographic and Magnetic North and South Poles as well as climb the highest peaks in all seven continents. This incredible 'grand slam', which many believed was almost impossible, was completed when, along with Norwegian companion Rune Gjeldnes, David arrived at the North Pole on foot. To date he has done 31 major expeditions around the world and received the Gold Star Award in 1984, the RADAR Person of the Year in 1992, in 1994 he was awarded the M.B.E. in the Queen’s Honours List for Services to Polar Exploration. In 1996 he was voted ‘Pertex’ Outdoor Person of the Year and in June 1998 in the Queen’s Honours List he was awarded an O.B.E. |

Debra Searle At the age of 32, Debra Searle has achieved more than most people would dream of achieving in a lifetime. A first class honours degree and medals at World Championship level. Entrepreneurial success with the launch of two limited companies and has had her a number of books published. She has a mental strength and determination that inspires and motivates all who meet her. When Debra's rowing partner left her alone at sea the sceptics gave her two days tops.
